The (solar) power of graphene

President Obama made good on a promise this week to re-install solar panels atop the White House.

Mining.com reported that using graphene, which can be found right here in U.S. mines, instead of more expensive materials, could decrease the price while keeping the power in those solar panels.

With the administration’s focus on solar technology development, opening up access to domestic minerals like graphene only makes sense. A common sense permitting process would give the United States an advantage by providing a stable supply chain to manufacture the energy technologies of tomorrow here at home.

Graphene has also been described as “the perfect material for chip-making” and said computer chips have “broken several speed records,” which means the expansion of its use can improve many of today’s cutting-edge technologies.
