In honor of Good Neighbor Day on Saturday, Sept. 28, NMA is reflecting on exactly what makes minerals mining a “good neighbor.”
There are three commitments that underwrite all of our operations: commitment to our employees, commitment to our communities and commitment to the environment.
As a part of the commitment to our employees, we offer good, well-paying jobs for men and women of all levels of education, experience and interests — from geologists to engineers. And our CORESafety® initiative seeks to eliminate fatalities and reduce the rate of workplace injury by half by 2015.
We support the communities in which they operate through volunteer efforts and charitable contributions, giving millions to important causes every year and supporting local programs.
Finally, U.S. minerals mining is committed to restoring the lands on which we operate. In fact, over the past 30 years, we’ve reclaimed and restored more than 2.6 million acres of land, creating wildlife habitats, parks, fishing holes and more.
