Colorado school of mines named a great investment for students

Increasing tuition costs and high unemployment rates for recent graduates have many questioning whether the cost of attending college is worth the benefits. Recently, Business Insider ranked the top 12 colleges at which degrees are the degrees are “totally worth it.”

Coming in at number six was Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colo. It is one of just two public universities in the top 10 and PayScale determined the 30-year net return on investment is $1,461,000.

The Business Insider article also noted that engineering grads typically enjoy a high ROI and they are perfect candidates for a career in the mining sector.

Careers in U.S. mining pay well, with the average salary at $85,000 and many positions above $100,000.

With a looming worker shortage, many of these graduates are poised for quicker returns than anticipated.
