Alaska State Representative Peggy Wilson (R-Wrangell) penned an op-ed touting the benefits of developing rare earth elements in Alaska—particularly in the state’s southeast corner—noting that “having an REE mine in Alaska could provide immense benefits to the state’s economy and residents.”

Rep. Wilson pointed toward Alaska’s Bokan Mountain as the most advanced project in the state, stressing that it “is estimated that there are between 1 and 6.7 million tons of Total Rare Earth Oxide (TREO) and the estimated value of the deposit is between $1 and $6.5 billion.”
