National Mining Association’s Members are Dedicated to Being Good Neighbors

This week, Mining Global published “6 Sustainable Initiatives You Need to Implement in Your Mining Operations,” which is a compiled list of sustainability initiatives that mining companies around the world are building. As good neighbors, mining companies have an inherent responsibility to the communities in which they operate, to the safety of their employees and to the environment in which we live. And we are proud to say that three of National Mining Association’s member companies – Newmont Mining Corporation, Anglo American and Goldcorp, Inc. – are cited as best practice examples in this article, supporting their commitment to being a good neighbor.

At the National Mining Association, we understand the importance of being a good neighbor and prioritizing the safety, health and economy of the local communities in which the industry operates. For example, U.S. minerals mining invests heavily in the research and development of new technologies and processes to minimize environmental impact and increase innovation. The industry is dedicated to rebuilding and restoring all of the land on which we operate, and no project is complete until that land is safe, accessible and ready for public use. In fact, more than 2.6 million acres of land across the country has been reclaimed and restored to create parks, fishing holes, wildlife habitats and more to serve the community. Our future is linked directly to yours, and we encourage all of our members to continue being an active member of our shared community.
